Just arrived this new toy. Less than 40 Euro from Amazon.
I’ll use it with some lomo film camera, but today I tested it with my digital camera and it seems to work great.

Here the instruction manual for Speedlite Neewer NW 561 (pdf)

I felt in love with this one ! Found on eBay for the ridicolous price of 30 Euro, it took about one month to be delivered to my home from Ukraina.

It’s a FANTASTIC camera ! I might tell you  the feeling of having it in your hands, I might show you the pics it takes but I’ll never be able to tell you the smell. Old mechanical oil smell mixed with it’s leather case: a magic.

Some more info here.

  • Metering: selenium cell

I wonder why people buy brand new lomo cameras when with 20 Euros you can get a jewel like this. Built with aluminium (no plastic.. !!!) with an extraordinary industrial design: the name “ibis” close to the viewfinder seems from Metropolis movie….

  • Film format: 120
  • Viewfinder: galilean
  • Shutter: 1/30 second + B
  • Metering: no
  • Lens: Primar 85mm
  • Focusing: fixed focus

I really love my Praktica MTL3 becouse this was my first reflex ever, bought more or less in 1985.

It was manufactured in DDR by Pentacon, a part of Zeiss Ikon which was split in two after WWII.

MTL3 is a very strong camera. My camera was sleeping in a drawer for 25 years and it worked fine when I put back inside the film and the exposimeter battery.

This is my current camera. The one I use on regular basis.

FM2 was manufactured by Nikon between 1983 and 2001, in several versions. Two big families were manufactured based on the shutter metal: titanium (for the first) and aluminium alloy (for the latest). The only way to know if your camera has an aluminium or titanium shutter is the phisical inspection. Titanium shutter is honeycomb shaped.

Using the self timer, when you operate the shutter button, the mirror lifts immediatly and only at the end of the delay the shutter fires, to minimize vibrations.

A very good point is that the camera is fully mechanical and the battery is needed only to operate the light meter.
